About

I am a writer and an artist. I defy interpretation. To me, every journey is on a well worn path and every story, a cliche. The limitations are at the core of my drive. I will surmount them or fail miserably, knowing valiant effort. I am human in my quest for identity and definition, but I still believe that I can create my own footprint.

Intrinsically, the human experience revolves around relation… relation with one’s self, relation with others, even relation with the ground on which one stands. The relationship is based upon perimeters and boundaries — where one entity stops, another begins. As an extension, the roots of language are based off these delineations, making it limited and flat. I predicate this belief by acknowledging that language lives and vernacular breathes; but, it can also die when one needs it most.  Exemplary to this point is in the description of the intangible which is usually juxtaposed against those things universal: feelings. There is a propensity for language to get lost where these things are concerned. The world is not meant to be experienced in the two dimensional categories of happy, sad, angry, et cetera. Our dire need for compassion and humanity compels us to define in concrete terms those things that were never meant to have tactile form. This need kills the root of the reason for communication. This need whittles away the essential meaning of the emotion being expressed.

My work is about breaking those defined structures and capturing the true, ineffable quality that is human experience.  My life goal is to probe and better articulate each hue, each different value, each subtle shade of nuance in expression which makes life worth savoring. I realize that on some level this precept seems antithetical, if not morbose and conviluted. But it is my venture to own. Maybe people will find a little bit of themselves in my process of exploration… that would be lovely.
